Lets have a real plan here people....

First off, there are issues that need to be found out before this endevour(sp) can even begin. On the WISH website I believe somewhere it states they already licensed their WISH source code for some Chinese company to make a Chinese game off of it.

I am HOPING Wish decided they could make MORE money selling the source code than trying to start their own MMORPG with it, and will continue to develope it or sell it as is on the market to more people than just the Chinese, like....us?:)

IF INDEED Sony/EA is suing or BOUGHT out Wish then this entire project is going to need to change it's goals. We would NEVER be able to get the source code if either of those happened. Sony or EA would have rights or hold up the source code in the courts for years.

We've heard all the rumors by now, but one I do believe is the fact MR won't be answering any questions about anything to anyone until at least next Monday, the rumor was they wouldn't be talking to anyone for at least a week.

I suggest someone make contact with MR to get the real story on what happened next Monday. Tell them you represent someone who is interested in using the source code of WISH and is willing to pay to use it. You're trying to find out what options are open, and if MR is willing to lease/sell the source code at all, or if they cannot...... due to other reasons that the person/company you represent would like to know, so they can move on to other source codes they were interested in if Wish is not avalible. Hopefully you can get a concrete answer. A simple NO is not enough:)

If in fact we find out there is NO possible way to get/use the WISH source code then the next option would be to create a team of VERY talented programmers/developers/testers to create/test a new UMMORPG based on the concept of WISH with a bit of improvement to select areas like combat, that will be sure to make Wish not only the best MMORPG, as it already was, but even better:)

Ever since the days MUDDING and those games with REAL content there has not been an online game to ever come close to the genious content/gameplay behind simple text based games. These games have no graphics so they HAVE to be about content. There are over 2000+ muds ACTIVE, many with 100+ players. This is where our player base is for the most part. People who STILL play Muds and are just waiting for or given up hope that a 3d content online game will ever come out.

Wish was pure genious in the making, the first of it's kind, Wish was GUARENTEED to be the MOST popular, and the MOST content/Open/Social RPG of all time, and would be sure to wipe clean all current MMORPGS off the face of this Earth. Wish's only problem was lack or PR/Advertising. Like I said I am on the PC/Internet 16 hours a day, and I play every game out there, yet I had never even HEARD of Wish until a few days before open beta sing up ended. When a person like me hasn't even heard of Wish being who I AM, and doing what I do....you know they needed more advertising:) Even without it, they still were #1 in downloads, and THIS being a 1 gig+ file too!!! I heard DOZENS of players say they got 5+ people from family/friends ALONE playing and enjoying Wish within the first coupel days of Beta. Word of mouth was enough to shoot this game UP in players and popularity exponentially.

In contrast games like EQ are pure garbage and NO ONE would play if someone like MR had made EQ. If you advertise a game enough and all you can do in the game is pick your nose.......You'll get people comming to PAY and PLAY to pick their nose and enjoy it. This is all EQ is, any every game out there I have seen.....The player bases for these games are just the AVERAGE amount of people who only play because they heard about it on TV, or saw it in store, etc. The market today is saturated with garbage, and given the choice these people would play WISH for half an hour and never look back. But the MAIN market for Wish was word of mouth. People played it, saw it was the best MMORPG they ever played, told friends, and they played, enjoyed, etc. People who were playing WoW/EQ2, entire clans/guilds in those games signed up for WISH beta, and couldn't wait to play it, and when it came out, they stopped playing WoW/EQ games and started Wish, and had just about thrown out the other games, when Wish died:(

So you see the problem is NOT players. Wish was so good that I could see people going out and buying a PC just for Wish, the player base was AMAZING for only the second open beta, What the first had like 100 active? Next had 10000+ active, and this is with almost NO advertising....And after a few days of Beta at least 5 times that much had heard how great WISH was and was interested. By the beginning of 3.0 Wish would have had more beta singups/players than probably EVERY mmorpg out there combined. After playing even a few days of WISH and you're an expert on online games like I am:).....You could tell WISH would destroy 100% of all competition and this is probably why EQ/Sony either found a reason to sue or buy out MR:(

Anyway......in all common sense when we can't get the WISH source code, do we have enough people willing to contribute to make our own UMMORPG? This is the question, and the main problem of this project.

Personally if I had the money I would hire a team of professionals and get this project started. The problem is it takes real professionals to make a good game, and usually professionals program FOR A living, or at a job, and aren't willing to work on such a large project unless they're paid. Me personally, if I had more programming knowledge I'd do such a project for free:) That's the problem though. Also the best people for such a job are experienced programmers from other MMORPGS who work on MMORPG projects but they expect to be paid:)

On the bright side, if we can manage to find some REAL talent and people who can see how promising WISH is/was who are willing to help out, and we get enough people, we could really get something going on here. Hopefully people feel as I do, that Wish was TOO important and great a game and the NEW generation of online gaming, to let go to waste. I'd help out for the mere fact I'd become a legend for helping to work on the best MMORPG ever to come out(At least that would be the story after we finished it) :)

Sry for the long read, but Kudos to those who actually read it:) Tell all your friends in all your online games to come help support the NEXT generation of online gaming, to be a part of it from the beginning. Hopefully we can work together and make this project a reality.

Good post Crevin :). Give wish project some time , we have just started and we already have a nice community here , so there is a chance that we might be able to gather a good team and actually make something out of this .. Time will tell :)
