www.colossalstudios.com

A Game Developer/Consultant company all staffed by former WISH developers.
Perhaps may provide some help for this project.

But the question I have is "Can they deliver or fold like WISH?"

I am sorry for sounding pessimistic but with the former Producer of WISH(which may have been nothing more than "vapor ware" to get these people's names in the market) as the founder/CEO it just make me cynical.

I am feelin a bit EVIL today.... just let me rant it will be over soon.

I must admit though, similar fears than Hankellin

I just looked at one of their clients:

http://www.valhyre.com/index.phtml

Check out the concept art. Most are from WISH and not a few are not even renamed.

Another of their clients:

www.IRTHONLINE.com

Are they selling anything other than WISH?

I had a feeling I had seen Valhyre before. But as you say, there are a lot of images there that look like the Wish Concept art.

No problems Devilduck. I actually read through most of your races and the world concept you have and look forward to seeing more of your project.

I did register on your site and have yet to receive the password.

My doubts and concerns are about Colossalstudios.

Hi Devilduck

I hope you dont feel we were slighting your choice to use Wish assets, I can only speak for myself but I wish you the best of fortune with your endevor.

I am very glad that the concept artist is still working in the field as he did some of my favourate character drawings to date. I love the mountain unicorn, it is more in keeping with early myths, very nice indeed.

Please keep in touch.

Ah, it is great to hear someone mention that. You can't imagine the amount of feedback I have gotten on that concept saying it should be more slender, and graceful. I tried to point out that the original unicorn in myths was something to be feared. There is some thought that the Rhino is actually the basis of the unicorn because of the furociousness of the legend.

I think I heard that theory on the unicorn (a twist on this was used on a TV series). If I remember rightly the early myths of the unicorn had a thick boned tail, more feral face, and body with a curved horn and bearded.

This site has some interesting info.

http://www.unicorncollector.com/legends.htm

Today usually all that links it to that early image are the boned tail and occasionally beard, so yes I liked this one

I agree there are concerns with Colossal Studios and Am not saying that they are a must contact if you want to succeed.

They are another source of infomation and possible help. Perhaps Colossal is not the answer, but another company similar to theirs may be the right ticket and may lead to something.

Then again, they may be open to an informational interview?

I guess I am not quite sure what all the pessimism is about concerning Colossal Studios. Ever since the founding of PW, many of the folks at Colossal Studios have been more than helpful towards us and our project. DormantDemon, SkywiseKnight, Blue, Lepidus, etc, have all been more than willing to answer questions that we have and to point us in the right direction at times. Granted, much of this help came before the start or Colossal Studios, but I see no reason that it need end. As you can tell from DD?s response, we have more than a couple ex-Wish developers who troll our forums.

Keep in mind that Colossal Studios did not develop Wish, nor did they pull the plug on Wish. Wish was developed by Mutable Realms and was cancelled for a variety of reasons I am sure. True, many (all?) of the people at Colossal Studios worked for Mutable Realms, but the company was founded after Wish-fall.

DormantDemon can correct me if I am wrong, but I do not believe that Colossal Studios is involved in the total creation of any games like Mutable Realms was.

Double-D, it is good to see you again!

Thank you for your input and thoughts.

I feel a bit more "generous" toward Colossal Studios now. My initial response and feelings were based on "personal conclusions" which were made not haveing enough information to come to a more informed decision.

And I did say I was feeling a bit evil  that day. .
