Update & New Web Theme Options

The web team has been working on more new themes, so here is the latest to be unveiled. This is the second of the new batch. There are still 3 or 4 more to come. We hope you like them. The point is not that you like all of them, but that there is at least one that you do like, because you get a choice . If you do like them all, then you have good taste .

As far as progress updates go, the editor is making strides every day. The initial heighmaps for alpha have been given to the programmers so we can get the new terrain system working the way we want it to. We now have scene saving and loading working in our internal world editor, and the first scenes will be coming soon. You should be able to expect some real screenshots sometime this summer. We are not planning on rushing anything out the door, as our standards of quality are very high. When you do see something, expect it to be good.

Marr Vellis will not be the only thing to be included in Alpha 1. We decided to include the southeast edge of the continent, closest to the islands of Marr Vellis. This area will include a swamp. We are busy making trees and working on water effects so as to make this as beautiful as possible. The swamp was the only land area that leads to Marr Vellis, so the visiting merchants either had to travel by boat, or learn to traverse the swamps. There are a number of bridges in the area, but many have decayed, especially the main bridge leading to the city.

We are very pleased with our current rate of progress. We hope you continue to visit and contribute ideas in the forums. Drop us a line on what you would like to see in the game (or even on the website). We run a very open development process, so we do not avoid any questions asked. We are always idling in IRC (while it is stable), so come visit and chat.

On a side note, we are still evaluating a possible new IRC server to replace our current situation. Things have become increasingly unstable on the current server. We want something small and cozy, so anyone with suggestions is welcome to let us know what they think is a good place.
