That makes sense. QUOTE Construct (Half-mechanized) I like the idea of a mechanical race - it adds a bit of variety to the human-elf-dwarf trinity. Maybe have the race be constructed by the gnomes? Asides from that, I still think myconids would make a nifty race.

Hm... histachi... brainless yellow creatures that have failed ritual of transformation of Yuan-ti. Hm... that would be some kind of heavy curse, maybe like permadeath... unless you're healed somehow, but even if, you're getting more "dumb" after that oO
But, got another thingy to say: Some races are far superior to others, like dragons for humans, and i doubt i'll see any kind of way to change from human to dragon. So, if permadeath and karma implemented, could next character selection base on what we did ealier ? So, if i would be like.. hm... acting powerfull, eating meat only, toying with fire and being rather awfull to others, could I be a dragon in next selection ? Well, why not... But there should be also some limits, so we wont have like 1500+ dragons and 1200+ humans.
Another thing, Dragonkins... almost every race can mix up with dragon... *wonders for awhile, seeking a concept of yuan-ti abomination mixed with red dragon* And selecting them... hm... well, if all the races could mix up with the dragon, then there sure would be some modelling to do. Maybe selecting the type of dragonkin would depend on: had contatcs with dragons, acting a little bit dragonlike, and what race are you... hm...

I've never seen Spirits as playable characters. A race that can transcend between a ghostish physicality to a mostly solid physicality.
There are still many kinks but here are the "rules" I figure would make it a more or less an even race with the other races.
1) Ghost form is your base form. - Costs you nothing to be in this form.
2) They can not interact heavily with solid objects when in ghost form. - You transcend to a solid form to pick up items and interact with NPCs.
3) The physical world can not interact with you very heavily. - Swords, bows, arrows, etc. do little to no damage to you. - Your barely there, what is there to hurt.
4) Taking physical form takes A LOT out of you. - In the form of stamina, mana, whatever makes since when the dev team decides on all rechargeable attributes.
5) When in Solid form you are weaker than most NPCs. - You don't work well when your trying to force yourself into a a solid shape.
6) Spirit Vs Spirit (mobs to PC or in pvp) is like Human Vs. Human. - Will force full sets of armor and weapons to be bought or made and then carried into spirit form.
Advantages: - Huge mage based race. > A mage that doesn't require a meat shield (in some situations). - Will be a truely unique race to RPGs. (correct me if I'm wrong)
Disadvantages: - Does not lend crafting > Crafting is a physical thing done in a physical world, ie they need to really concentrate to craft and stay solid. > Maybe, crafting can be done if all items involved can be carried over to the spirit form, depends on the final crafting system. - Some insane physical weakness (to be discussed) to make this not an all powerful race of mages. > insanely weak to magic maybe, or potions forcing physical form briefly etc. I don't know, this attribute is probably the main reason its not used as a playable character. - Most likely should not be able to carry heavy loads between spirit and physical form (requires to much concentration). - Can ride a mount for only a short time or not at all since >Shortened time caused by physical drain to stay in a form that can interact with the animals "controls". > Most animals get scared by odd entities such as spirits and ghosts.
I'm really trying to lay enough disadvantages on this race because in battle, it has the potential to be one of the strongest races for battles, but not much else...
