Ok, we've heard it was going to be too expensive/not enough users.

I'd still like to know how much was it going to cost, what cost did they calcualate with, and actually if it's not impossible, some technical details on the server farm needed, some cost calculations there...

Mikhail, if it's not a problem, could you try to ask this of Marc, he may answer...or may not but at least we've tried to get more info.

Or do you guys think it's not vital information?

I think we are all wondering that. I think to keep prying is quite annyoing for both parties and I think if we keep that up we will not have any cooperation from MR in the future. What I am getting at is; Maybe they didn't like where the project was going? We didn't have the right to anything with MR, they mearly let us Beta-Test the game but shut it down. We did just that, but some of us fell in love with it and we are here to bring it back.

Remember, MutableRealms doesn't owe anything to anyone.

Nah, it's not because they owe us, it's because with info on the real costs they had and the predicted costs/incomes we can see if it is possible at all to revive the project. Of course an open source project would be much cheaper, but there are still costs involved....it'd be best if they could replace some of their coders & story-writers with volunteers....;-)

I've seen it done before, but you may be right. Anyways, I think it may worth a try, it'd be very very valuable information IMHO.

keep discussing it guys, I'm off for a while

In a broad and general sense of any MMORPG/UMMORPG. With projects with Wish size calibre, to financially support it and all it's features and completing it in full which consists of millions of lines of code.

It can easily surpass millions of dollars to finish a project such as this.

Moving to "Other" as this has nothing to do with Project Wish :)

Wish was the best online game I ever played. I do understand that employing 30+ GM's would be quite expensive. I also know that the other attempts at this have failed. Also, I've heard that when the slots of GM's were filled by people willing to work without pay; it still didn't work as it was intended. I'm sure MR would not have cancelled the project if their numbers were better. I truly believe they just gathered the data at the wrong time. However, the numbers did show that there wouldn't be enough people subscribing to keep them in business. They made the decision they had to make.

Hopefully, Wish will be resurrected in it's original form. The aims of this project seem to be reviving Wish/keeping it alive if that does not happen. I am in full support of this idea and offer encouragement to those brave individuals willing to group together to undertake such an awesome task.

I will be checking back here regularly to see if there is any way I can help. Thank you Project Wish for giving me a glint of hope that I may get to visit Ganedan once again.
