I have been reading the forum and I have to say I'm a bit worried about the future of this project.

It feels like you are wandering around without any actual plan. You are discussing about game engine even without have any specs for the game or process how to work. If you keep working like this the game will never be released. Or at least it won't be what we are looking for.

Can I propose something? Either way here it comes

- Define process. Who is doing what and how. For example how decission making is handled

- Create a plan. What is done in which order, who does them and what is the deadline.

- Work according to the plan.

- If the plan needs updating. Update it.

One more thing. You seem to have forgot one important issue, testing. Testing is not just trying the game out. Lack of testability can make your life miserable. The success of testing will be defined the day you start working on the game.

What you are saying is underway. It's just not being done in the public forums. First thing is to get the team in place, then the overall goals will be defined, then the more techincal and detail aspects will begin.

On the public forums ideas are just being tossed around and discussed to have some foundation of opinions to base later decisions on.

true .. we are tossing ideas about to find the right blend and see if it is feasible. perhaps the game devs care to share with us some thought on how are we doing so far?

So far we are working on appointing team leaders and then the teams. Once this is done we should be looking at all the goals people have posted and from there deciding some things such as what engine to use, etc..

Stir, you have some good ideas. I'd like to tell you that we are doing exactly what you are suggesting.

Currently, we're picking our team leads. Messages have been sent to people and we are just waiting to hear back responses. Once we hear back from a few more people we'll make an announcement as to who our team leads are.

Once team leads are chosen, those leads and myself will be defining the project goals for Project Wish. Those goals, once defined, will be put up for a vote by the community.

After project goals are chosen we will then be defining our game requirements. I expect this phase to take a long time (read: it's not something that will be done in a week).

After requirements are drawn up, then we choose various bits of technology that we'll need and then we can get started.

Our requirements document will serve as the basis of our project plan.

I hope this little insight into how we're going about doing things helps.

Thanks Mole, it's nice to hear that you haven't got lost already at the starting gate :D

I'm looking forward to hear how the project will move on. Best of luck. Cannot wait to see how it turns out.

By the way, if you are looking someone for the testing area (meaning Integration/Functional Testing) I would be interested to lend my helping hand.

No, we're not lost. We're not even close to being lost.

Yes, we have been quiet lately. Currently we are in the process of picking our team leads from our many applicants. This has not been an easy task.

Look to see an announcement soon on a timeline of what we plan to do in the next month!
