There are people on this project who are fans of linux/bsd (myself included) and we'll make an effort to make stuff run on linux.

Current status of the project as a whole is still very early, and current status of linux support is also very early, so don't hold your breath.

Thanks for your reply
I see that this forums is not very active
will this game be free ? and will it be open source ?

second things
as I never played the beta of "Wish" and you got very few screenshots, I got a very little idea of how this game will be like.
can you direct me to the page that explains it more deeply (I've read the FAQ). ?

Thanks.

Im not sure if there is a "more in depth page". The game is still in early stages of development, so most aspects are still being decided on, by the developers, just as much as the community. The best way to find about the game and game play would to be by browsing the forums, and even posting your own ideas.

And as for inactive forums.. im going to blame that on our old host for being so darn slow... stupid 1 and 1.... tongue.gif

The timestamp sais I posted my reply less than two hours after the thread was created, that's a fast response on this forum. As illustrated by your reply 13 hours later :)

Regarding free/open source: We don't know yet. Honestly. We have no clue. Personally I'm hoping it will be closed source and pay to play, but only if the game is good enough to be a hit. Which is an unrealistic expecation. But I still hope.

As a non-dev member of the forum, there status is 'eatting.'

Eatting as in taking any idea that sounds good and consevable.

Try giving the news posts a read. Havn't had one recently (*pokes Jerky*), but they contain enough for a community member to figure our where the project is.

To find out where the project originated from, http://wishvault.ign.com/ is your best bet for Wish related information. I played the beta2 and enjoyed the community and skill system. Throughout the Ideas forum different skills and how they are developed are discussed.

Anyway, welcome to projectwish, hope to see you around the forum or in IRC.

WOW the original wish looks great, I can't figure out why they have stopped it.
it looks like at least 50% completed, it is very sad indeed.

have you asked them to release the source code or the art to use in your project ? (now they have nothing to loose).

the wish project is already 2 years in development and sadly the progress slow due to not having much developers, I would join but I don't think I have enough skill to really do great things.
but I just might make architecture as this is my current field.
but if you decide to make this game pay-to-play, or at least consider releasing the source I don't believe I could help you.

see Planeshift is free and open sourced
and ragnum online is free (while not open source)
in the other hand you can look at second life which is free and open source BUT have more features when you decide to pay.

think about it.

We will be open sourcing some things, as our plans our now. The one thing I can say is that, after 2 years, we have a pretty good idea of what we want to see. We will not, however, be open-sourcing everything.

We love the Ogre3d community, and will be sharing as much as we can with them, but there are just some things that would be stupid to release to the public.

Sorry about the lack of updates, I will remedy that soon wink.gif. We haven't been not working. Try visiting IRC and you will see more action.

The makers of Wish are trying to sell the assests made during develpoment... I had the website somewhere around here... or did... Bottom line is they aren't releasing anything for free. Models, code, the server, etc. is all for sale if it hasn't sold yet.
