Does anybody here have any free MMORPG recommendations?

I have looked through the web for hours and have found a few, but nothing I really like.

If you have any please let me know.

[edit] Sorry didn't read carefully enough. :@

FlyFF (Fly for Fun) http://flyff.gpotato.com/
This game seemed to be a cute game with the potential to fly.
Had easy leveling and I didn't need to deal with outrageous item prices. Also had plenty of item drops to revive health or +X armor/weapons.

It is still in Beta so servers rolling back 3 days are not unheard of. I left shortly after a rollback because I lost 5 levels and many good items. (Others here played it but I don't remember who and if they still do.)

I realize you asked for a FREE mmo, but GuildWars is practically that way. I just picked up a copy of it a couple weeks ago and it seems to be keeping my attention (which is very few games do). It seems to be a mix between an MMO and Diablo II. Pretty cool stuff. I enjoy being able to have AI powered henchmen help me, as I am mainly a solo player. I think this was a great idea on their part. It allows me to still solo while taking care of my quests without getting my backside handed to me.

Hello all, first post.

I am currently at the library, and it is amazing how many people (kids) that are playing Runescape. True, all are under the age of 14. But it is not bad looking, has a free play feature and I really am impressed with the interaction level.

But I have to agree that GuildWars isn't bad for a free game.

Thanks all!!

Quick Question for you GuildWars players:

How is the community in GuildWars?
The reason I ask is because the biggest part of an mmorpg to me is community and interaction with other players.

Thanks again all!! And currently trying EL right now!!

I am a soloist, plus I am new to GW, so take this with a grain of salt. As in, I've been playing for 2 weeks. I only communicate with guys I work with who also play, so I cannot comment on the community. I know Fuinelen plays(ed) it and Mocker. Maybe they can answer better. I am enjoying it myself, but it is no Wish. IMO, the game seems like a hybrid MMO/Diablo. With the best features of both. It is not, by any means, perfect, but is fun nonetheless.

My only advice if you get it is to do the quests. They are the best way to gain XP and travel through the map.

Hi all.. while waiting for Wish I was playing ConquerOnline for most of last year which is f2p though may not be what you are looking for - it is class-based, level-based, non-con PVP and no crafting as such, though you can "compose" items from monster loot; combat success is largely determined by who has the best items - as the playerbase has a similar age profile to Runescape you can imagine what passes for RP there. Suffice to say, if you have a low tolerance for players with names spelt like ~>.>|7h!z|<.<~ CO is probably not for you.

However to my surprise I found it fun though it is not the sort of game I would have usually contemplated either (my main char in Ultima Online was a smith :D ). There is actually quite a lot of player interaction through the guild system, with a weekly guild battle (and supposedly inter-server guild tournaments soon). As it's originally a Chinese game, about 50% of the players are not from USA/Canada, which gives a better timezone spread. Also a big attraction for me is its relative simplicity - I used to have to use spreadsheets to keep track of my item properties and skills in UO - and that you can level while afk (at about 10% of the rate) - I am strictly an interstitial gamer atm, work/timezone issues often prevent me meeting up with my friends online else I'd probably be playing WOW like everyone else heh. If you do check out CO my tip would be to make an account on the last (newest) server listed at the bottom of this page. Friendless newbies don't seem to have an easy time on the established servers. Anyway it's free so all it would cost you is time, and some bandwidth to download and patch it.

My CO archer is level 130 now so I am about to check out irth online, which isn't free but as others have commented seems (and looks) comfortingly like Wish - and like most of you (probably) I just got a free trial code emailed to me as I gather they acquired the Wish beta tester mailing list...also it's not level based so shouldn't require a big time commitment.
*wishes us both luck*
