Hi,
I would like to apply as a 3D-programmer for this project. My name is Bert Van Semmertier, I'm a student Computer Engineering (3rd year) at the University in Ghent, Belgium.
I'm almost fluent (can you ever fluent in a programming language?) in C/C++ and Java and as a 3D-graphics programmer hobby-ist I'm very interested in terrain-engines, weather engines, modelling of water, etc...
In my spare time I'm currently working on my second terrain engine, supporting: octree based frustum culling, geometrical mipmapping, projective texturing, cubemapped water, large terrains (up to 2048x2048 in size), texture splatting, huge viewing distance, ...
Here are some screenshots of my first terrain engine. It works but it's not optimized and has problems running on ATI-cards. It supports Geometrical mipmapping, quadtree based frustum culling, terrains up to size of 1024x1024 and has a large viewing distance.
This the engine i'm currently working on: (works a lot faster but is far from finished)
One problem though: currently i'm in the of my midterm examinations (I shouldn't even be working om my computer right now ;)) so I fear that until february 8th there is nothing I can do for the project. I think I have to warn you for this...
Friendly regards,
Bert Van Semmertier
