QUOTE(joshpurple @ Sep 26 2006, 06:57 AM)
Question:  Can I import a .mesh that will act as the ground terrain / mesh?  Example:  In Max I create another hunk of land, one that goes underground, I export the .mesh, now when I drop that .mesh in the meshes folder, -could that work as the ground / terrain (I'm guessing not? smile.gif )?

atm you wouldnt be able to walk on it, but you could create a mesh that looks like the ground for now, and we should look at the posibility of "painting holes" in the terrain so you could put a tunnel behind the hole and go underground.

ok how do your rotate something? 'cause I tried to put a tree in and it was on it's side. Which is great if I wanted a fallen tree, but I wanted a standing up tree.

When you click on an object, the Object Editor menu should pop up, select the "R" (rotate) in the top right corner, put "90" (degrees) in the box below that, and press the "-X"button. (Rotate -90 degrees on the X axis).

Note, in ogre the axises work like this:

X - horizontal (left-right)
Y - vertical (down-up)
Z - depth (in / out of the scene)

Doing more with DWARF smile.gif , and here's been my idea;

RP with DWARF

With the current RP that is going on with the Grey Horse Inn, all of the current models that I'm using can be used in DWARF.

So, I'm setting up the Grey Horse Inn inside of DWARF. I'll then post up the DWARF scene, the .meshes, and the .materials. Anyone will be welcome to grab the DWARF scene & files and mess with it smile.gif . You should be able to move parts around, add items from the Resource Browser, add lights, etc. -take screenshots of it -post 'em, continue RP (Feel FREE to add LOTS smile.gif ! ), and post your DWARF scene back up -with your added objects & updates (just make sure your DWARF scene works in DWARF, before you post up a 'broken' DWARF file).

I've been working with Gassy, as a static mesh, seeing if I can get the materials to work, the size of Gassy's model in DWARF, etc.

And, this is it (so far);

( Gassy has a green tongue and his eyes are solid white, there is no 'see through' part )

Wellllll, I downloaded DWARF, installed, figured out how to move around in it.

Um... The cabin is up in the sample file is up in the air, so I was thinking I would select it, and then experiment with the Object Edit window, but, um, I couldn't seem to find any way to select it.

In "Static View (F9)", tried clicking on it and using the Tab key, but all to no avail, so what am I missing?

Its been some time since I used dwarf.

You need to go into the mode where the GUI is visible and the mousecursor is available. Mouse selection is based on the bounding box so you don't have to be exact with selection.

Select the object, press M on your keyboard, then press Y and click and drag the cabin.

The hole idea seems interesting, mainly for dungeons I suppose.
Seen that my English is worth I will try to write soon something (mainly suggestions) readable about the planned virtual pw ambient creation.
I hope that it will start a constructive discussion biggrin.gif
