I would like to start by referancing Diablo II in that, you could make a 'hardcore character'. the main difference between this, and a regular would be that the first had only one life to live. Period.
I am not here to propose this...exactly.
Insted, I would like ( a world/server ) filled with these types of characters. One thought that death has a higher toll, espically as your character acculimates times of death. These "Costs of ressurection" would work in much the same way breaking a limb over and over in real life might work. At first, yes, it hurts like hell and you are slightly set back. ( And are slightly more at risk of breaking it again later, if not aligned properly --Mini game?-- ) After so many breaks the bone becomes weak and aches when strenuisley used, and in some cases just by walking around.
I would think that the higher level a character has without dying, would give that character prestigue` over others, and mabye even a small skill, stat, and/or visual bonus. Mabye dying often would add wrinkles or scars to your character. Say at.. 5 deaths, your character can no longer be ressurected. But can walk around as a ghost in certain areas, or during certain times of the day. Mabye even have a spiritual effact on the world around them.
Just the thoughts for now. Mabye more later.
